Sport Management

Enhanced by a partnership with the Worcester Red Sox, students receive a solid grounding in the skills they need for a career in the sports industry.

What is Sport Management?

Sport is more than a game – it is a multi-billion-dollar worldwide industry that has become a crucial element of our economy and culture. Behind the stadium and court lights, a complex infrastructure, ranging from agents to journalists to trainers to event managers, work to support and manage that industry. Assumption’s sport management minor helps you to develop the skills to become a vital part of that team.

Sport management is open to all students interested in the area of the business of sports. While it may be of direct appeal to business majors, it can also serve as a useful complement to students studying writing and mass communication who are also interested in the sports media field or economics students focusing on sports analytics.

Worcester Red Sox Partnership

Assumption University is the higher education sponsor and one of the 21 founding partners of the Worcester Red Sox. Through this partnership, Assumption students benefit from internships and scholarships as the University enhances its commitment to the redevelopment and revitalization of Worcester.

Polar Park, the home of the Worcester Red Sox, serves as another classroom for Assumption students. There, students are provided access to internships that complement the University’s academic programs in business, data analytics, health and human services, the communications track in English, and many more. The partnership also expands students’ access to higher education in the form of scholarships from the Worcester Red Sox that will be matched by Assumption.
