Assumption’s Department of Accounting provides students with the educational background needed to sit for the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and/or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) examinations.

Assumption’s accounting program is steeped in a liberal arts foundation and complemented by courses such as business law, finance, management, marketing, and macro- and microeconomics. This rich curriculum prepares students for a variety of careers, including those in public accounting firms, corporate settings, or nonprofit institutions. By graduation, students have learned the necessary skills to sit for the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and/or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) examinations.

Assumption offers students the opportunity to earn a bachelor’s degree as well as an accelerated Master of Business Administration. Students can also minor in fraud examination and forensic accounting, the fastest growing niche in the accounting profession. The program combines financial knowledge and investigative skills to equip students with the tools needed to work in a number of diverse fields, including criminology and cybersecurity, and with organizations from the FBI to the world’s largest public accounting firms.

 

  • The Department of Accounting offers undergraduate programs of study in accounting. The general mission of the Department of Accounting is to create a challenging learning environment that prepares students for professional employment in the private, public, and nonprofit sectors and/or graduate study. Assumption University has a strong liberal arts tradition, and the Accounting programs augment the liberal arts courses by developing students who:

    • gain fundamental knowledge, concepts, and theory of the disciplines we teach;
    • are proficient in technical and professional skills related to the disciplines we teach;
    • understand and can perform in a professional environment that is multi-cultural and global;
    • possess the knowledge and ability to understand ethical reasoning and act in a socially responsible manner;
