Two Assumption Graduates, N.E. Patriots Employees, to have Unique View of Super Bowl LIII
Casey Ellms ’18 never imagined she’d land her dream job right out of college; today she is in Atlanta for Super Bowl LIII with the New England Patriots as part of her job with Kraft Sports + Entertainment. There, she’ll be working alongside fellow alumnus Alex Marshall ’14 G’15, who will be working his third Super Bowl with the team.
“It is a little surreal to attend the Super Bowl,” Ellms said. “But I am excited for the challenges and the opportunities it will provide.”
The Wellesley native, who majored in organization communication with a minor in graphic design, has worked as a Corporate Partnerships Coordinator for Kraft Sports + Entertainment for the last seven months. Her responsibilities include working with the corporate partnerships team to assist in sponsorships and managing sponsor-based events. Ellms specifically works on creating video content for sponsor-based events which consists of writing a story board, filming, and editing.
Marshall, a Shrewsbury native who resides in Mansfield, has worked for the New England Patriots organization since finishing his MBA at Assumption in 2015 (he earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting in 2014). As a senior accountant-cash supervisor, Marshall manages the team’s event day cash operations. He has traveled to the Super Bowl with the team each of the last three years; last year he led the AFC Champions out of the tunnel and onto the field running with the American flag before the start of Super Bowl LII. This year, he will be handling hotel logistics in Atlanta, where he has been working on site since January 22.
Ellms has also been busy working in the two weeks leading up the Super Bowl and will leave for Atlanta on January 31. “There are many events that that happen during Super Bowl for our marketing clients, club members, and partners. My main priority will be filming and capturing all the different aspects of the weekend,” she said, adding that there will be a few moments when she’ll “get to slow down and enjoy the experience.”
Ellms credits her Assumption education for helping her get where she is today. “Assumption gave me the opportunities and the skills I needed to get to where I am right now and to go even further,” she said. “I took advantage of all of my resources from my classes, internships, ACTV, and professors. With their help, support and hard work I was able to start my dream job working for an NFL team right out of school.”
Marshall agrees. “[Assumption] provided me the guidance and mentorship to be successful in the business world,” he said.
