Richardson ’19, PawSox Intern, Featured in The Sun Chronicle

Assumption alumnus Alex Richardson ’19 was recently featured in Attleboro’s The Sun Chronicle where he discussed his internship with the Pawtucket Red Sox and the impact it will have on his career in baseball. 

Richardson is one of several Assumption students and alumni who have had internships with the organization and have excelled in their duties. The quality of an Assumption education and the tools it provides students to succeed both inside and outside of the classroom—in particular those students in the popular sports management program—was one of the reasons Assumption was selected as the higher education partner of the Worcester Red Sox. 

Although the Worcester Red Sox won’t play a game in Worcester until 2021, Assumption and its students are already seeing early benefits of the partnership, including classroom visits from front office staff and market research projects. Students will also have access and opportunities to experience the behind-the-scenes operations of a professional sports organization, much like Richardson is learning this summer. He calls this internship “life-changing in terms of the career path I want to go down.” 

Richardson, who studied sociology, criminology and human services and rehabilitation studies while at Assumption, played baseball for the Greyhounds all four years. He hopes to use the skills and opportunities he enjoyed while at Assumption in a career that helps him share his love of baseball with others.
