NECHE Commission Reaccredits Assumption

Assumption has been re-accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE) (formerly NEASC), through its Commission on Institutions of Higher Education. Assumption’s next comprehensive re-accreditation visit will occur in spring 2021.

“Assumption’s re-accreditation is a testimony to the outstanding educational experience we provide for our students,” said Assumption President Francesco Cesareo. “I must commend the effort of all members of the campus community, and particularly our faculty, for their commitment to excellence and their concern for our students.”

Accreditation of an institution of higher education by the NECHE indicates that it meets or exceeds criteria for the assessment of institutional quality periodically applied through a peer review process. An accredited college or university is one that has available the necessary resources to achieve its stated purposes through appropriate educational programs, is substantially doing so, and gives reasonable evidence that it will continue to do so in the foreseeable future. Institutional integrity is also addressed through accreditation.

The 180-member faculty support and enhance Assumption’s well known undergraduate and graduate academic programs. Their expertise ranges from the digital arts to biology, from political science to rehabilitation studies, and from business studies to psychology and sociology.
