Assumption University Named Top Ten Military Friendly® School for 2024-25
For the fourth year in a row, Military Friendly® has named Assumption University to its list of military friendly colleges and universities. Assumption is ranked number six in the nation in its category in the 2024-25 rankings, moving up four spots from being ranked number 10 last year.
According to Military Friendly®, “Military Friendly® Schools strive towards and succeed in the areas that matter most in helping veterans make the transition from the military to school and, ultimately, satisfying careers in the civilian world.”
Being named to the list, and moving up in the ranks, reflects Assumption’s continued commitment to veterans through programming, specialized support and assistance both for academics and for well-being, and events to honor the service of our veterans.
Assumption offers many opportunities for student veterans, including the work of the Veterans Success Committee to eliminate obstacles for student veterans seeking higher education; a dedicated veterans lounge for student veterans to connect with one another; a graduate program specifically targeted to prepare students for work with service members, veterans, and their families; a collaboration with the Worcester Institute for Senior Education, which has many veteran members; and an annual Veterans Day program.
“It is an honor to once again be named to this important list, but even more of an honor to have the opportunity both to teach and to learn from those who have served our country,” said Assumption University President Greg Weiner. “Assumption is dedicated to supporting our veterans and ensuring that their college experience after service is one where they are able to thrive. We are proud to continue our work with student veterans and ensure access to Catholic, liberal arts education to those veterans who wish to pursue it.”
Military Friendly® schools are given designations based on both public data and surveys filled out by schools who seek to earn a Military Friendly® ranking. The information is then assessed by the Military Friendly® Advisory Council of independent leaders in higher education along with Viqtory, a company working to provide resources and opportunities to those leaving the military. Specifically, institutions are measured based on retention, graduation, job placement, repayment, persistence, and loan default rates for student veterans.
