Assumption Expands Partnership with Worcester Center for Performing Arts, Hanover Theatre & Conservatory

Assumption University has announced the continuation of a partnership with the Worcester Center for Performing Arts (WCPA) that will continue to provide Assumption students with various career and educational opportunities in the arts at The Hanover Theatre & Conservatory

The partnership allows Assumption students to enroll in WCPA classes, such as acting, improvisation, dance, and set design, offered through The Hanover Theatre & Conservatory, with tuition and charges covered by the University. Assumption students will be able to take two Conservatory courses per semester, which will count toward their undergraduate degree progress as an independent study or special topics course. Additionally, the partnership will present qualified Assumption students and recent graduates with the opportunity to pursue various career and networking opportunities including internships and entry-level positions.

“We are pleased to strengthen our partnership with the Worcester Center for Performing Arts and The Hanover Theatre & Conservatory to create new opportunities for Assumption students to study the performing arts and to gain practical internship experience in the field,” said Greg Weiner, President of Assumption University. “This partnership will enable our students to enhance their Assumption education with an organization that is integral to the preservation and celebration of performing arts in Worcester.”

“Assumption University was among the institutions that stepped up from the very start to support the theater’s restoration and reopening, so it really is a long term relationship that has deepened over the years as we’ve found more opportunities for collaboration,” said Hanover Theatre President & CEO Troy Siebels.

An integral part of Worcester’s thriving arts community, The Hanover Theatre & Conservatory, which is owned and operated by the WCPA, is a leader in educational and performance-based opportunities for its members and the public. WCPA also manages the BrickBox Theater, the home of THT Rep, a repertory theater with a mission to “engage, entertain and energize audiences with dynamic theatrical events made in and for Worcester, focusing on classics, modern classics and classics-inspired works.”
