Announcing the 1904 Day of Service – A Day of Purpose and Community
An email message sent to the Assumption Community on February 10, 2025:
Dear Assumption Community,
I am pleased to announce the inaugural 1904 Day of Service, which will take place on Monday, April 7, 2025. This mission-inspired initiative, named for the year of our founding, reflects the University’s Assumptionist-inspired commitment to serving our neighbors and collectively cultivating the common good.
On this day, members of our community—students, faculty, and staff—will come together in service in lieu of attending classes. We will dedicate ourselves to meaningful projects both on-campus and at service sites across the Worcester area. This collective effort will strengthen our bonds with one another and give back to the city we are proud to call home.
Further details about the day and individual assignments will be shared in the coming month. For now, I encourage you to reflect on the spirit of service that guides this important initiative and prepare to be part of a day that exemplifies the very best of Assumption University.
Thank you to the cross-divisional committee who has been working since the fall to organize this initiative. And thank you for the role each of you will play in making the 1904 Day of Service a day of impact and purpose. I look forward to serving alongside you in April.
Sincerely,
Greg Weiner, Ph.D.
President
